Sweet Pea - I am young female approximately 1 year old. I was dumped at the gas station where Resucer Sharon feeds a feral cat colony. I became pregnant from Puff who is also up for adoption (see below). I and my 5 beautiful kittens are up for adoption. I am a VERY loving and sweet short haired tabby cat. I get along well with other cats and love people! I jumped right into Rescuer Sharon's truck and laid down in her lap. I need to be spayed before I leave S.A.S.S.H. Arrangements to pay for spay in lieu of adoption fee can be made.
5 Blue Eyed Fluffy White Kittens - Males and Females. Our mother is Sweet Pea and our father is Puff (See pictures above and below). We are beautiful white, partial long haired kittens with blue and green eyes. Our eyes may change as we get older. 2 of us have little black smudges on the top of our head. We were born on August 9, 2009 and are almost 7 weeks old. We need loving homes! Spay/Neuter agreement must be signed if adopted prior to being of age to alter.
Ginger Snap - I am a pleasantly plump little girl. When Rescuer Sharon first saw me laying in a ditch at a busy intersection, she thought I was dead. I had myself flattened on the ground and not moving. Rescuer Sharon pulled over to check and then I ran into the culvert. Rescuer Sharon thought I was 4 weeks to 5 weeks old. The vet said that I was 8 weeks but was so tiny due to malnutrition. After 4 days of feeding me in the ditch, I let Rescuer Sharon pick me up and bring me to S.A.S.S.H. I was terrified of all the other cats, dogs, and kid. Due to my hiding and not exercising I had muscle tone issues, and my knees would pop out of joint. My nerve signals are too strong, so even though I desperately crave attention it was painful to be petted (this caused me to bite). As I get older and am petted more this problem is decreasing. I still cannot tolerate being rubbed on my belly. Therefore I would need to be in an adult only home. My muscle tone is better as Rescuer Sharon built cat enclosures so that I could be seperate from the other cats. I am presently in an enclosure with Puff and Tom Kitty. Sweet Pea was with us until just before she gave birth to her kittens. I am already spayed. I really want a home where I might be allowed to sleep with my person and be loved!
Puff - I am a beautiful semi-long haired white male with blue eyes. I am the proud daddy of 5 kittens with Sweet Pea (see both kittens and Sweet Pea above). I was born in a feral colony at a local gas station. I started letting Rescuer Sharon pet me and I walked into a cat crate for some food. Becoming friendly while still outside in the feral colony left me in grave danger of being picked up by dog fighters to be used as bait to train the fighting dogs. Rescuer Sharon closed the door and brought me home to S.A.S.S.H. I love to be petted, though I am a little shy about being picked up. I will come to you if you sit down quietly. I would do best in a quiet, loving home. I am very gentle and laid back. Rescuer Sharon believes that Puff may become a total lap cat, although he may or may not remain shy with strangers. I need to be neutered before I leave S.A.S.S.H. Arrangements to pay for neutering in lieu of adoption fee can be made.
Tom Kitty - I am an adult male cat. I have already been neutered, and am therefore rather portly. I am very very sweet and gentle. I was born in a feral colony with my twin brother (who has already been adopted). Even though I was a large adult male, I was being beaten up by other local cats. I was so scared and badly needed a safe environment. Rescuer Sharon trapped me and treated me with antibiotics for wounds obtained from a fight with another cat. I am very sweet and love to be petted, but am shy about being picked up. I am sure that will change in a loving home. I am quiet and laid back. I recently recovered from a urinary tract infection, though I will need to eat urinary tract formula cat food. (Purina Cat chow has one for only about $2.00 more a bag.)
Snow Ball - I was rescued at 4 months old in Beaumont, Texas. My sister and I were living in a neighborhood where local kids played with me (as I am very trustworthy). These kids nearly killed me, they swung me by my legs, neck, tail, tossed me back and fourth, hit me with bats, and then put me in a plastic play tube. I was rescued by one of Sharon's family members. Unfortunately they could not catch my sister. I am still very trusting. I would need to be in an indoor cat as I seem to have no sense of what is and isn't dangerous. I love to stand or lay on your chest and give kisses. I am a little bit pudgey now but still very playful. I am black and white. I would love a home with people. I get along well with other pets (dog or cat), and all humans. I have already been neutered.
Dogs--> (7 currently up for adoption)
April - I am just about a year old! I am a female chihuahua and possible dachshund mix, weighing in at 11 pounds. I got pregnant on my first heat cycle. We don't know what kind of owners I had, but they threw me out of a car window, on a bridge, in front of an 18 wheeler, ten days before I gave birth to my puppies. I can be very sweet and loving to my people, but I can be very ferocious and protective. I will bite people I don't know as I am afraid of people I don't know and want to protect my family! I am afraid of children and hate cats. I'm very particular about which dogs I will associate with. So it would be best for me to go to a home where I would be a single pet with adults or possibley adults and teenagers. I have had my vaccinations and have been recently spayed. I have lots of love to give to the right home. Rescuer Sharon would ask that anyone adopting me come get to know me several times before taking me home! :)
Goldie - I am a beautiful 1 and a half year old Staffordshire Terrier/Pitt Bull. It would be best if I were in a single pet home, as I am friendly but still need some discipline training. I would do best in an adult/teen home. I am light tan and very playful, but don't know my own strength. I have been spayed and given my vaccinations. I was found in the middle of a busy Houston street, going up to each person looking for my owner. I would have been hit by a car if I hadn't been picked up when I was. I am extremely lovable and playful with everyone I meet, but need someone with a background in dog training. I want a loving home where I will NEVER be used for fighting! References will be required!!!
Freckles - I am a pitt/terrier mix. I am a beautiful tiger brindle (Brown, red and black) I am white around the muzzle. It makes me look like an elderly dog, but I am only 4 years old. I was found starving and covered with mange in a creek bed. My sister was rescued by neighbors 4 doors down. My brother was rescued by Gloria at Paws, Hoofs and Claws rescue a mile down the road. I am very friendly. I have become morbidly obese and am presently on a diet program (lost approximately 10 pounds so far). When I was found I was loaded with heartworm, but am still very energetic. I have been spayed and vaccinated. I am on heartworm preventative to keep me from getting more heartworms, but have not been given heartworm treatment to rid me of the existing heartworms. Adoption fee would be waived if adopter were willing to have me treated for heartworms. The only thing I like about cats is chasing them. Must be in a cat free home!! I play very rough with my playmate Osiris(he is a husky/wolf mix who is not up for adoption). I would be best as an only pet. I am very friendly and lovable. I do need a little bit more behavioral training. I am crate trained.
Bandit - I was born from a feral mother. I am a reddish yellow big boy! I have a black nose and black tip on my tale (which is a curly brush tail). Grandma was a black chow, grandpa may have been a yellow lab/boxer mix. I don't know for sure. My mommy looks just like me, we are both short haired with a tight coat. Suprisingly we don't shed all that much. I have been neutered and vaccinated. I am very friendly with my family but am very fearful and protective when introduced to strangers. I would not do well with young children. I would require more training and socialization if adopted. (My two sisters are Cinnamon and Nutmeg who are also up for adoption).
